A Thousand Angels
by Amy Smith
I had been working in retail for 5 years and knew that it
wasn't what I really wanted to do with my life. Even so I was shocked and upset
when my contract came to an end and my employer was unable to offer me a new
one.
After unsuccessfully applying for any jobs I could, I finally heard back from
the one I had kept my fingers crossed for: My dream job. Now the morning of the
first interview was here and my tummy was doing back-flips. I'd done all I could
- Got the early night, had my outfit ready and researched the job inside out and
backwards but the nerves just wouldn't budge. I got into the car, took a deep
breath and started off.
It was about an hours drive and as a treat my boyfriend had made a new CD for me
to listen to on my journey. It was about half way through the drive, going over
and over what I was going to say and do when I got there, when the CD stuck in
the player, hoping it was just a temporary glitch I let it play. Then I heard
what was being sung over and over again, just one sentence. "A thousand angels
dance around you." It gave me the confidence that this was the path I was meant
to be on and all my nerves disappeared.
Needless to say the first interview went well, the second went great and I start
my new job as soon as possible.
